What is the meaning of the miraculous signs in the Gospel of John?
John 20:30-31 – Jesus did many other miraculous signs that his followers saw, which are not written in this book. But these are written so that you can believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God.
The author organized his narrative so that each sign/miracle correspond to one of the Chakra of the Indian tradition. Below is a parallel between each miracle of the Gospel and its corresponding chakra.
Turning Water into Wine at Cana – Svadhisthana Chakra
Water is the element of the Svadhisthana chakra.

John 2:7 – Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with
water.” So they filled them up to the brim.
Svadhisthana chakra is associated with the sense of taste.

John 2:9 – When the headwaiter
tasted the water which had become wine.
In Sanskrit Kha means empty space and Na means no/not. Khana refers to the empty water pots being filled with water transformed into wine.

John 2:1 – On the third day there was a wedding in
Cana of Galilee.

John 2:7 – Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.”
At the Svadhisthana chakra level, there is an evolution from solidity to fluidity, from Earth to Water.

John 2:6 – Now there were six
stone waterpots set there.
Svadhisthana chakra has six petals.

John 2:6 – Now there were
six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification.
The red color of the petals may be associated with the red color of the wine.

John 2:9 – When the headwaiter tasted the water which had become
wine.
The movement of Svadhisthana is down corresponding to the movement of the water element.
John 2:12 – After this He went down to Capharnaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples. (Note:
Capharnaum is the location of the next sign/miracle)
Healing of the Nobleman’s Son at Capharnaum/Cana – Manipura Chakra
Fire is the element of the Manipura chakra.

John 4:52 – So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. Then they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour
the fever left him.”
Feet and legs are the work organs of Manipura chakra.

John 4:51 – As he was now going down, his slaves met him, saying that his son was living.
Manipura chakra is associated with the sense of sight.

John 4:48 – So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people
see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe.”
The movement of Manipura is up corresponding to the movement of the fire element.
John 5:1 – After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and
Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Healing the paralytic at Bethesda – Hrit Chakra
Hrit chakra is a minor chakra associated with Anahata chakra in the heart center.
The eight petalled Hrit Chakra has its face downward. Here stand the celestial wish fulfilling tree with 5 branches in the pericarp, and at the base of the tree is a gemmed seat. Hrit chakra is said to be untouched by physical impurities. Hrit chakra is the Abode of mercy.
Hrit chakra is called the “Abode of mercy“. Bethesda means in Hebrew: “The House of Mercy“.

John 5:2 – Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew
Bethesda, having five porticoes.
The Wish Fulfilling Tree has five branches.

Hrit chakra is associated with physical healing.

John 5:9 – Immediately
the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk.
Hrit chakra, location of the wish fulfilling tree, is where the wishes come true.

John 5:6 – When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him,
“Do you wish to get well?”
Concentration on Hrit chakra change the movement of the petals from down to up, opening the chakra.

John 5:7-8 – The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man
to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “
Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.
Feeding of the Five Thousand, on the mountain – Anahata Chakra
Touch is the sense associated with Anahata chakra, the hands are its work organ.

John 6:11 – Jesus then
took the loaves, and having given thanks, He distributed to those who were seated.
Anahata is the location where the process of breath control starts. The ancient Indian texts mention starting this process by sitting on a seat made of kusha grass.

John 6:3 – Then Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He
sat down with His disciples.

John 6:10 -Now there was much
grass in the place.
Anahata chakra has twelve petals.

John 6:13 – So they gathered them up, and filled
twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
In Anahata, Kundalini Shakti sits in an upward triangle.

John 6:3 – Then Jesus went up on
the mountain, and there He
sat down with His disciples.
Mudra, the bread, is one of the 5 Ms of the Panchamakara.
Mudra allegorically means spiritual company, satsang.

John 6:5 – Therefore Jesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that
a large crowd was coming to Him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy
bread, so that these may eat?”
Matsya, the fish, represents one of the 5 Ms of the Panchamakara.
Matsya means fish, also symbolically the breath. The two fish are the two nadis, Ida and Pingala, corresponding to the inhalation and exhalation of breath. In the Indian tradition, the Heart center (Anahata) is where the process of breath control starts (Pranayama).

John 6:5 – There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and
two fish, but what are these for so many people?
Desire for Solitude is the consequence of the opening of the Anahata chakra.

John 6:15 – So Jesus, perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself
alone.
Jesus Walking on Water – Vishuddha Chakra
Vishuddha chakra, located at the throat level, referring to the dark-throated Shiva after he ingested the poison during the episode of the churning of the ocean of milk.

John 6:17 – and after getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capharnaum.
It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.
Vishuddha chakra is associated with the sense of Hearing.

John 6:19-20 – Then, when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened. But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”
Vishuddha, is where occur the mastering of the 4 elements of the first chakras: earth, water, fire and air.

John 6:19-21 – Then, when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty furlongs,
they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened. But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” So they were willing to receive Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.
The cultural traditions that originated in India motivate people to seek refuge at the Feet of the Lord by evoking a sense of fear and this fear is described as the fear of “Samsara”. Samsara portrays the picture of life’s journey as a tedious, difficult and challenging crossing of an unknown and treacherous ocean. Indians seek Lord’s protection to reach the shore and complete the journey across the ocean.

John 6:19-20 – They saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and
they were frightened. But He said to them,
“It is I; do not be afraid.”
In Indian thoughts the mind is compared to an ocean while
the thoughts and emotions represent the waves. The boat represents the transcendental knowledge needed to reach the shore (liberation).

John 6:17-18 – and after getting into a

the sea to Capharnaum. It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. The sea began to be
stirred up because a strong wind was blowing.
Healing of the Blind Man, Siloe – Ajna Chakra
Ajna chakra is the location of the opening of the third eye.

John 9:7 – Jesus said to the blind man, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” So he went away and washed,
and came back seeing.
Ajna chakra is the command center.

The Indian texts mention that by meditating on Ajna chakra, the third eye, all sins are destroyed.

John 9:2-3 – And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who
sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?”
Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
In the Indian tradition, salivation is associated with the production of the nectar of immortality, Ambrosia. It is said that the nectar of immortality can “cleanse” the disciple’s eyes, removing the darkness of ignorance, restoring a vision of eternal truth and relieving the pain caused by lack of spiritual knowledge.

spat on the ground, and made clay of the
spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes

The dust of the feet of the Guru cleanses as no ritual ablutions can, is holy and wipes off all sins.

Bethany: the Raising of Lazarus and the Anointing – Guru Chakra
The Guru chakra is part of the seventh center together with the Sahasrara chakra at the crown of the head. Inside the triangle of the Guru chakra the Guru is seated. The two feet of the guru inside the triangle are like lotus flowers and from these flowers the fragrant nectar of immortality flows.
Mukti (liberation) indeed for those that anoint the feet of holy men. – Tirumantiram 1829

Nard is a plant growing in the Himalayas of India, Nepal and China. The perfume or pure nard represents the nectar of immortality (Amrita) mentioned in the ancient spiritual Indian texts.

of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
Martha, Mary and Lazarus are associated with the three stages of the path of enlightenment of the Indian tradition:
charya,
kriya and
yoga.
– Martha represents
charya: virtue and selfless service,
the path of the servitor.
John 12:2 – So they made Him a supper there, and Martha was serving.
– Mary represents kriya: devotion, the devotee is close to the Lord.
John 12:3 – Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair.
– Lazarus represents yoga: the path of the Lord’s friend.
John 11:11 – He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep.
Guru chakra is associated with caring for the poor.
The name Bethany means “house of the poor” / “house of affliction”.

John 12:5 – “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given
to poor people?”
Crucifixion/resurrection, Jerusalem – Sahasrara Chakra
Sahasrara chakra is located at the top of the cranium.

John 19:17 – They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called
the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha.
